Statistics
Type Statistic
Lifespan Immortal
Height The height of a genie is invariably dependant upon their chosen physical form, as they are intrinsically elemental beings. They tend to choose another race to base their appearance on, which determines their height.
Weight Genies are surprisingly light even when having assumed a physical form, and are typically half the weight of a typical member of their chosen race.
Physique Genie physiques intrinsically depend upon the race they choose, but they are broadly defined by their beauty and attractiveness, and a physique that implies delicacy.
Body Colours & Markings Intriniscally varies for each individual genie, but often their forms have a glow and hue to them that is individually distinguishable, such as fire genies all having a more red hue and glow, but the exact shade of red varying slightly.

Racial Class Genie

There are many kinds of genie, though we generally only talk about the seven main types - the six elemental genies, and the wishmaker genie. They are all extremely powerful but cannot travel to Pearalos on their own.

Genies hail from the six ikarian elemental realms, as well as the realm of wishes - where all six elemental variants and the wishmaker genie can be found - and are an extremely famous and powerful race, albeit with powers tied intrinsically to their elemental realm. All genies share a few traits in common, being their boisterous attitude and general freedom and power within the ikarian realms they call home, but also their shared inability to enter Pearalos itself without any assistance.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Genies are inherently a very versatile race, as they have no default anatomy, instead adopting a physical form derived from another race. A genie cannot change this form after choosing it, with the notable exception of the wishmaker genie (which is able to change forms at will and near-instantly), so for a genie, this choice is one of the most important ones they can make.

While in the ikarian elemental realms, the only distinguishing features from a normal member of their chosen race is the general soft hue or glow intrinsic to a genie, but when on Pearalos, they tend to lack a lower body - though they can overcome this 'problem' and manifest one using magical power - and are instead shackled to their genie vessel through a smoky trail that leads back to the opening and prevents them from moving too far from it.

Behavioural Patterns

Genies are very boisterous and egotistical by and large, believing in their superiority over mortals and delighting in playing games with them in the elemental realms - often games of chance, betting fortunes and so on - but the matter is very different when they are bound to a genie vessel and in Pearalos, where they become very subservient and obedient, though whether that is against their will or not is... complicated. For some, it is, but for many, they travel to Pearalos in this way on purpose.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Within the elemental realms, genies are generally among the most powerful nobles and command vast wealth and power, and they do often let this go to their head. It's often advised to tread carefully when visiting a genie in their home realm, as they can be very... aggressive and prone to making full use of their power and status. On Pearalos, by contrast, the social status of a genie is far more individually dependent, but they are always subservient to the owner of their vessel, which can often be a very stark contrast to life in the elemental realms, that's for sure.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Few discussions of the genies would be complete without discussing the genie vessels that are so tied to them; they cannot enter Pearalos by themselves, but if they bind themselves into a genie vessel - typically an ornate golden lamp - within an elemental realm, that lamp can be 'cast down' into Pearalos, allowing a genie to make the journey... albeit, a one-way journey in most cases, as the vessel permanently binds the genie to it; they cannot gain freedom from it, nor can they ever return to the realms without external aid (and even then, the vessel cannot be broken).

The genie vessel is an extremely important relic in its own right, as once bound to it, the genie's very lifeforce is tied to it; if the vessel is destroyed, the genie dies. This makes vessel binding a very rare thing, but for some genies who simply tire of the life in the realms, it's an ideal, novel option - and that's to say nothing of the Wishmaker Genies, who function differently.

Of course, one of the most famous functions of these vessels is to allow any genie to grant wishes, not just wishmakers; contrary to popular belief, only wishmaker genies can naturally grant wishes (and they can do so an unlimited number of times, albeit not all at once), the ability for other genies to grant wishes is tied to the vessel itself, which are created and enchanted by wishmaker genies in the realm of wishes itself to have that power. Still, the vessels work as would be 'classically' expected; the bearer of the vessel gets three wishes, and the genie must fulfil them, and can do so in whatever interpretation suits the genie, though the final wish must be granted in the most favourable way possible for the wisher; they can't literally grant the wish, or lose the intent in translation, as it were.

After three wishes, no more can be made, and as already stated, it's not possible to grant a genie their freedom, and after using the vessel three times the genie is still bound to it, bound to serve the ones who own the vessel. This often results in the vessels being kept as family heirlooms, and the genies eventually becoming integrated members of a family household, though it should also be noted that it creates a lot of competition and ire over ownership of the vessel, as when it passes into a new owner three more wishes are permitted; the wishes are per owner, not per vessel, so if one owner used all 3 and then passed it to another, it would gain 3 more wishes, but if then passed back to the first owner, no more wishes are given.

Origins & Distribution

Genies originate from the ikarian elemental realms, where the six elemental variants can be found, and the realm of wishes, where all six elemental variants and the wishmaker genie can be uniquely found. The realm of wishes is seen as the 'heart' of geniekind, and the homeland of all genies, and is said to be a realm where any wish can become reality.

Average Intellect

Genies are renown for their very high levels of intellect, and this is not a misnomer either; they are a very intelligent race that has a baseline of intellect on par with the average elf, and the most intelligent genies are on par with many imperial dragons and some of the best mortal minds.

Civilization & Culture

Common Dress Code

Genies are particularly famous for their more... revealing sense of clothing, with male and female genies alike being well known for their very revealing, almost harem-like clothing style. Female genies are the most famous for this, being famous for their actual harem-style of clothing, and this is perhaps to do with the fact that genie society is very middle eastern in nature, and the realm of wishes plays into this significantly as well.

Interspecies Relations

Relationships with other species are basically part and parcel of genie life, especially on Pearalos, as they are bound to serve whoever owns them, and that is never another genie on Pearalos (though it can be in the elemental realms). Romance between genies and their owners is surprisingly common, as genie wish-giving is spread out over many years due to the vessel's properties, which gives plenty of time for a strong rapport to be developed between a genie and their owner.

This is certainly also helped by genies typically being extremely attractive, and able to suppress their glow and hue if it's not desired. Add that to their ability to create a lower body when they need it (instead of retaining the wispy tail leading to their vessel), and it's not hard to see why partnerships with them are so commonplace in households that own them.
