The faeries are a very dangerous race, in no small part because nobody takes them seriously at all. They're unassuming by nature, and that's what makes them so problematic to deal with should they take issue with you.
The faeries hail from the Fae Realm of Nyssara, and are the subjects of the Faerie Queen, Titania. They're a diminutive race known for their tricks and games, as well as their magical powers, but that unassuming nature of them being tricksters and jokesters hides a genuinely dangerous race that has proven to be lethal to many a being historically. They're also very well understood, as Nyssara is the only ikarian realm that overlaps its planar boundaries with Pearalos.
Basic Information
Growth Rate & Stages
Faeries as a race are immortal, but they progress through a pair of life stages all the same, which sees them change between two types of faerie, generally beginning as pixies, then becoming fairies after approximately 500 years. Nobody knows why these two variants exist, but pixies are denoted as being more aggressive and dangerous than fairies, with their aggression and nature simmering as they become fairies.
Ecology & Habitats
Faeries can reside anywhere, but they prefer the enchanted forests of western Ranalore - which is where Nyssara overlaps with Pearalos - and the fae forests of Nyssara itself, as they can control the nature of these locations to make travel easier and better toy with mortals. Still, forests in general are perfectly acceptable for faeries, with the denser the forest in question, the better - though they are mindful of certain mortal races that inhabit them.
Behavioural Patterns
Faeries are habitual tricksters, eternally fond of tricks and playful games, and they are very prone to let their love for it get the better of them and make it get much more dangerous than intended, easily entrapping mortal races in their spells permanently. Pixies in particular are notable for this, and for them it's far more... purposeful, as the pixies are generally more malicious.
Additional Information
Origins & Distribution
Faeries originate from the ikarian realm of Nyssara, the personal realm of the Faerie Queen, Titania, who is also credited with creating the faerie race itself, and it is to her that all faeries owe undying fealty, and as such, they are seldom found outside of the realm of the faerie queen.
Nyssara's overlap with Pearalos is the only reason it's possible to find faeries on Pearalos in the first place, and many faeries live there, but they are always mindful of their games in that area, as the planar overlap area is under the particular scrutiny of the faerie queen at all times, and faeries have been severely punished or unmade for poorly thought out tricks that impact the denizens that Titania allows to reside there.
Perception & Sensory Capabilities
Faeries are incredible perceptive, and use their magic and natural connection to trace other faeries and non-faeries within the enchanted forests from miles away, with generally all faeries within that range knowing exactly what all other faeries and mortals are doing - with only the more powerful faeries able to hide their presence from weaker detection attempts (and only the Queen able to fully obscure her presence). This sense is what allows faeries to trace and play tricks on mortals with such impunity, but it's far less effective when not in the boundaries of the enchanted forests; within normal Pearalos forests and jungles, it's a few hundred meters at most, generally speaking, and is often less than that.
